This renovation of an original Levittown House involved ripping off the
illegal bedrooms and bath in the existing attic and designing an entire
new second floor with two bedrooms, a hall bathroom and a Master Bedroom Suite.
The first floor was largely converted into loft space, removing walls to open up
the living room to connect to a new study and a double height family room addition
that replaced a carport. The crucial design move was to maintain the existing roof
overhang so that the second floor is perceived as a series of dormers, maintaining
the overall scale of the existing structure while doubling it's size.
